Accessibility Statement

The Cancer Society of Finland aims to ensure the accessibility of its online services in accordance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019.

This accessibility statement concerns the CSF’s website cancersociety.fi

Accessibility status

The cancersociety.fi website partially meets the requirements of level 2.1 AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Non-compliances and exceptions to the requirements are listed below.

Non-accessible content

An accessibility assessment was carried out by a third party in September 2020. The shortcomings and areas for improvement identified in the assessment are currently being fixed.

The following content is not accessible under the Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019.

  • The following shortcomings were found on the website (non-compliance in brackets):
  • The tables are used in the layout so that in addition to the contents of the cell, the user is read the row and column. (1.3.1)
  • There are contrast shortcomings with the blog texts and in some of the form fields. (1.4.1, 1.4.3, 1.4.11)
  • The links do not always correspond to the content of the page to which the links lead. (2.4.4)
  • The selected menu item is unclear when using a screen reader. (1.3.1)
  • The title of the search results page states the name of the first search results incorrectly. (2.4.2)
  • The infographics on the site are not provided in an accessible format. (1.1.1, 1.4.5)
  • The membership form does not work properly with the keyboard. (2.1.1)
  • On the membership form, the submit button is inactive if the required fields are left blank. (1.3.1, 3.3.1)
  • When filtering events, the focus may shift to the wrong place. (2.4.3)
  • When using the mobile screen reader, the second level of the menu does not open. (2.1.1)
  • There are occasional gaps in the heading level labels. (1.3.1)
  • Instructions related to the fields come after the fields. (1.3.1, 3.3.2)

In addition, some links do not work with the Non-Visual Desktop Access (NVDA) screen reader in Chrome unless the user switches to the screen reader form mode at the link. With Firefox, the links work.

The service contains PDF documents published before 23 September 2018, which are not fully accessible. According to the law, such PDFs published before 23 September 2018 do not have to be made accessible retrospectively.

The accessibility statement will be supplemented as soon as the detected shortcomings have been fixed.
