The award amounts to €10 000 and has been awarded four times: in 2006 to Professor Inkeri Elomaa, in 2008 to senior physicist Dr. Mikko Tenhunen, in 2011 to Professor Seppo Pyrhönen and in 2013 to Professor Heikki Joensuu. Niilo Voipio prize The Cancer Foundation awards the Niilo Voipio Prize in recognition of scientific cancer research. The prize amounts to €5 000. Niilo Voipio was Secretary General of the Finnish Cancer Society from 1949−1986. The Niilo Voipio prize has been awarded five times in the 2000s: to Professor Heikki Joensuu (2016), Professor Kari Alitalo (2013), Professor Jukka-Pekka Mecklin (2009), Professor Matti Hakama (2006) and Professor Albert de la Chapelle (2003). Oncologist and Oncology Nurse of the Year Every second year, the Cancer Foundation awards prizes of €5 000 for Oncologist and Oncology Nurse of the Year. The prizes were last awarded in 2020. The Oncologist of the Year prize was awarded to Laura Palanterä, and the Oncology Nurse of the Year prize was awarded to Maria Pehkonen and Raisa Similä.
