Cancer Society of Finland – Annual Report 2022

The Cancer Society of Finland is the umbrella name for its member associations, the Cancer Foundation and the Finnish Cancer Registry, which have a common constitution and strategy.

Health promotion by the CSF is a values-based, goal-oriented activity for enabling people's health and wellbeing and preventing cancer. The CSF carries out health promotion work in many different ways.

Two out of three cancer patients are cured of the disease, and increasingly more cancer patients live with chronic disease for years or even decades. As a result of good treatment outcomes, the need for rehabilitation support for people with cancer is increasing immediately from the time of diagnosis as well as during and after cancer treatment.

In 2022, the total grants amounted to around €7.35 million, which funded 93 researchers.

In 2022, the CSF carried out extensive social advocacy to promote its goals. The social climate was characterised by the war in Ukraine and prevailing uncertainty. The spring was also heavily marked by a strike in the care sector.
